These were a totally random baking experiment that happened a couple days ago in my kitchen. They started out simply as a way for me to use up a couple lemons that had been sitting patiently in my fridge for the past week; and truth be told I really wasn’t expecting greatness. However as soon as I ripped into one fresh and warm from the oven, I quickly realized these were going to be a regular occurrence in our house from now on.
I mean come on – buttery, lemon poppy seed cardamom filling wrapped up in a soft, fluffy yeast dough… It’s like happiness warmed up.
So here is the recipe lovelies & I hope you enjoy.

Lemon Cardamom Poppy Seed Twists
Makes 10 twists
Things you need…
Sweet Roll Dough
1 pkgs instant yeast
1 cup whole milk
2/3 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs, room temp
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 tsp lemon zest
1/2 tsp vanilla
pinch of cinnamon
4 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 tsp salt
Lemon Cardamom Poppy Seed Filling
1 cup butter, softened
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
2 tbsp lemon zest
1/4 cup all purpose flour
1 1/2 tbsp cardamom
1/2 tsp vanilla
2 tbsp poppy seeds
Egg Wash
1 egg
1 tsp milk
pinch of sugar
