Lazy Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease your baking pan. You can use a 9×13 inch pan for thinner bars or a smaller pan for thicker ones.
  2. Melt the butter in a microwave-safe bowl or in a small pot over low heat. Ensure it’s completely melted; this will make your bars moist and rich.
  3. Mix the eggs with the melted butter. Crack the eggs directly into the bowl with the melted butter and whisk them together until the mixture is smooth.
  4. Add the cake mix. Pour the yellow cake mix into your butter and egg mixture. Stir it all together until the mix is well incorporated. No dry spots should remain, but a few lumps are just fine.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips. Sprinkle the chocolate chips into the batter, and gently fold them in to distribute evenly.
  6. Press the mixture into your prepared pan. Use the back of a spoon or your hands to press the mixture evenly into the pan.
  7. Bake it. If you’re using a 9×13 inch pan, bake for about 20 minutes. For smaller pans, it might take 25-28 minutes. You’ll know they’re done when the edges start to pull away from the sides of the pan and the top is set and lightly golden.
  8. Cool and enjoy! Let the cookie bars cool in the pan for a few minutes before slicing them into squares. These are fantastic both warm and at room temperature.
